Marne Kilates is a poet, translator, and editor, who takes delight on the literary Web and maintains several online sites to share that delight. He has published three books of poetry and nine books of poetry translations from the Filipino language into English. His latest books are Mostly in Monsoon Weather, his third book of poems, and the University of the Philippines Centennial Edition of Florante at Laura, the 17th century Filipino masterpiece by Francisco Baltazar Balagtas. Both are published by the UP Press. Kilates has won awards for his poetry and translations, including the Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards, the Manila Critics Circle National Book Awards and the 1998 Southeast Asia Write Award (SEA Write) given by the Thai royalty.
